IDD Facility Open House June 9 2025

MACON - River Edge Behavioral Health, along with Mercer University School of Medicine, and the
Georgia Department of Behavioral Health Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), will host a ribbon
cutting and community open house for the new, state-of-the-art, River Edge Crisis Services and
Diagnostic Center and Mercer University School of Medicine Center for IDD Care (750 Hazel St) on
Monday, June 9th, 2025 at 10:00 AM
The River Edge Crisis Services and Diagnostic Center (CSDC) will offer 16 beds to serve adults
needing immediate crisis services. The Center will provide individualized care in the form of
behavioral supports, multi-disciplinary treatments, and medical interventions. The
34,000-square-foot facility will be the first of its kind to offer additional outpatient services,
directed by the Mercer University School of Medicine, including behavioral health assessments,
dentistry, psychiatry, neurology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language
pathology, ophthalmology, and other specialized services.
The open house ceremony and ribbon cutting will begin at 10:00 AM. Many will speak, including
Lester Miller, Mayor of Macon-Bibb County, Dr. Jean Sumner, Dean of Mercer University School of
Medicine, and Kevin Tanner, Commissioner of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and
Developmental Disabilities.
Tours of this one-of-a-kind space and a reception will take place after the program.
