River Edge CEO Accepts New Position
Dr. Shannon Terrell Gordon, LCSW, CFRE, Chief Executive Officer of River Edge Behavioral Health and River Edge Foundation since 2009, has accepted a Vice Presidency at Wellspan Health. Wellspan Health a $2.3B dollar integrated delivery network serving just over a million residents of south central Pennsylvania, aggressively recruited Dr. Gordon to lead its behavioral health network spanning 8 hospitals (with 250 behavioral health beds), 20 outpatient sites and 40 behavioral health service lines.
Dr. Gordon said, “I am incredibly proud of all the River Edge team and partners have accomplished together during my tenure in central Georgia. Since 2009, revenues and service lines have more than doubled to make life better for thousands each year. Together, we generate more than $123M in economic development impact annually for the region and operate as Georgia’s second largest community mental health center. We’ve built and paid for a state-of-the-art River Edge Recovery Center. We’ve created nearly 100 units of supportive housing and 10 state of the art community residential homes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are on track to similarly relocate our Macon-Bibb outpatient services and corporate offices to 2770 Riverside Drive by 2024 and develop Georgia’s first crisis evaluation center for individuals with developmental disabilities, with the help of partners and friends. Stigma is diminished. Truly, together, we’ve made life better. I am confident the values-driven, competent River Edge team will continue our important work.”
“Shannon’s passion for behavioral health recovery and disabilities inclusion is infectious,” said Amy Maley, chair of River Edge Foundation. “Her vision led to the Foundation’s creation and our having opportunity to share the River Edge story of hope to inspire giving to make life better. Her leadership has inspired donor confidence and contribution. A truly values-driven and trusted leader, she will be sorely missed, though we wish her incredibly well as she begins to serve in my original home state.”
Dr. Steven Corkery, chair of the River Edge Behavioral Health governing board said, “Shannon has been a pragmatic visionary and a dedicated leader of River Edge. We so appreciate her many years of service and wish her the best as she continues to serve. Central Georgia can count on our Board to be focused and intentional about recruiting a worthy replacement.”
