MACON,GA-- After 13 years Macon's River Edge Behavioral Health will welcome to community to a new facility.
Due to aging and essential maintenance needed at the current building, staff members tell WGXA it was proposed to construct a new facility.
After securing funding from Macon-Bibb County, the state, and an assortment of other entities the building was constructed in about 14 months.
Completely modern and sleek, the building is described by staff as "night and day" from their current facility.
The facilities are just feet away from one another.
Bright colors fill the entryway and halls throughout the building, some including Middle Georgia staples like the Cherry Blossom.
The facility is expected to be fully operational sometime in early October.
Thursday, October, 1st staff will join together to officially host a ribbon-cutting to welcome the building to the community.
