New grant awards to help families in Central Georgia!

River Edge Behavioral Health Center receives PSSF grant awards to provide services to families in need in Baldwin, Bibb, and Monroe counties. Georgia's Promoting Safe and Stable Families Program (PSSF) provides federal child welfare funding, training and technical assistance to help build state and community capacity to meet the needs of families at risk of child welfare intervention and families in crisis. PSSF targets four types of families touched by the child welfare system: families at risk and in need of support; families in crisis where efforts are being made to preserve the family through intensive services; families where a child has been placed in foster care and the best interest of the child is to be reunified; and families in need of adoption or post permanency services.

The PSSF program goals and objectives reflect an ongoing commitment to ensuring that families, communities and organizations have access to the highest quality services and resources needed to help children and youth grow into healthy, thriving and contributing members of our society.

River Edge and Department of Human Services objectives through these grant awards include:

  • Prevent abuse and neglect through supportive family service.
  • Prevent the unnecessary separation of children from their families through intensive preservation services.
  • Minimize the length of time children remain in foster care through safe and expedient reunification.
  • Promote permanent placements and support life-long family connections for children and youth through adoption promotion and post permanency support services.

At River Edge we continue to strive to make life better for families in Central Georgia!
