Immediate Support and Guidelines
For all IDD Crisis, a phone call to the GEORGIA CRISIS AND ACCESS LINE is the first step
GCAL Phone Line - 1.800.715.4225
The goal of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is to ensure safety, reduce distress, and connect individuals to appropriate care. GCAL will provide telephonic intervention, dispatch Mobile Crisis Team Services (MCTs) to assess the environment, collect information, and support the individual in crisis.
MCTS determines the level of care needed and will contact the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities to make appropriate referrals.
SUPPORT AFTER ASSESSMENT:
Care could include descalation of crisis and traditional waiver supports as well as resource development, psychiatric services, intensive in-home and out-of-home supports. The River Edge Crisis Services and Diagnostic Center (CSDC) may also be considered to offer the highest level of support of an individual in crisis. All admissions to CSDC are planned admission through DBHDD. We do not have walk in services.
